How To Install The Sharepoint Web Part

David Naffis Mar 10

Another way to stay connected to your Present.ly network is using your already established corporate microsoft sharepoint.

Download

Install

  • Open a command prompt window and be sure to change your directory to the location of the "Release" folder. For instance, your command may look like "cd C:\Settings and Documents\Administrator\Release".

  • After ensuring you're in the same directory as the files run the command "setup.bat". Be patient while the file installs, this may take up to 5 minutes, and you will see a printout of the progress.

  • Once completed the Web Part for Presently is installed on your server, and you are free to set it up on your Sharepoint.

Setup

  • You'll want to log into your Microsoft Sharepoint home page in order to set up the Presently Web Part. From your home page click the link in the upper right hand corner that says "Site Actions" and select the option to "Show Page Editing Toolbar".

  • After that loads select the link in the upper left hand corner that says "Page" and from the drop-down select "Modify Web Parts". It doesn't matter which web part you choose to modify, because we just need the modification screen to load.

  • Once it's loaded you should see an option to "Add a Web Part" at the top of the right of the screen. If you select this a browser will open to allow you to choose the Web Part you'd like to install. Expand the list to show all, and select the Present.ly Web Part from the list. Click the "add" button and you should see the update box become a part of your Sharepoint.

  • From here we'll want to click "edit" which will open up a box for specifications for the Web Part, and you'll want to type the URL for your Presently network (domain.presently.com) and your credentials. You may also choose to limit the width to 450 pixels in order to contain your Presently updates to just the right portion of your Sharepoint home page. Click "apply" in the specifications pane, and then select "publish" in the page editing toolbar in order to see your new Web Part in action.
